Passport, check. Boarding pass, check. Travel insurance, check. Now that the essential but boring bits are out of the way, we can get to the good part. The real travel essentials! As a sufferer of chronic wanderlust I’m always discovering new travel products that easily become a staple in my travel bag…
One of my holiday rituals is to exfoliate a day or so before I go on holiday and again once or twice whilst away (depending on how long I’m away for) . Admittedly exfoliating won’t be unheard of, hidden secret to all you beauty gurus out there, but when tanning on holiday regular exfoliation will help maximise your tanning efforts, leaving you a glowing goddess for weeks after your return.
One of my absolute faves when it comes to exfoliators comes from the quirky Soap and Glory. Aptly named ‘Flake away’, this little beaut will gently scrub away the dead skin cells and dull first layer of the skin, leaving a super smooth, velvety canvas ready to soak up those rays. For an even greater scrub, apply your exfoliator with exfoliating gloves! There are so many cheap ones available that do a great job. My faves are from Superdrugs at 2.99!
2) Tan Intensifier
Admittedly I am a complete sunseeker. I am absolutely the girl laying out by the pool or on the beach first thing in the morning, right through to sun-set (food breaks excluded of course). I love nothing more than feeling completely relaxed whilst knowing I’m topping up my tan. Because of this any product I can get my hands on that can accelerate and intensify my tan are right at the top of my holiday shopping list.
On my last trip to Goa and Dubai in May I came across the Piz Buin Tan and Protect tan accelerating spray. The spray itself was a lightweight oil that didn’t make my skin feel super clogged at all and smelt gorgeous. However the deal solidifier for me was the fact it comes with SPF 30 and protects from both UVA and UVB rays. Tan and protection all in one!
3) After Sun Moisturiser
Following nicely after my tan accelerating product comes this little gem that keeps me moisturised after a long day of said tanning. Presenting itself in body butter form, this pot of magic from Hawaiian Tropic is enriched with avocado and coconut oil as well as shea butter, which all aid in maintaining the skin's elasticity after a long day of tanning.
For me personally, there is nothing better than being dipped in highlighter after a long, hard day of tanning. Nothing compliments a gorgeous tan more than perfectly placed highlighter. My forever favourite is Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit - Sun Dipped.
Apply to the tops of your cheek bones, cupids bow, collar bones and a light dusting on the bridge of your nose to add an angelic glow to your envious tan!
