June 20th was our special day! I must say it was all smiles and so much joy! We have finally reached 2 years in the game and would not have it any other way! Donovan (My husband) as you can see rocking his full grown beard with a head full of curls while I thought it would be a great idea to rock a 3 strand twist for this special occasion. How I achieved this look, you ask….? Well first, I started with freshly washed hair (using the new Pantene Gold Series). I did not blow dry it at all. At the time, I decided to do the “no heat challenge” which I had been successful doing for the past 8 months. After washing my hair I used True by Made Beautiful products; first starting with the True Nourishing Leave-In Conditioner. Once I had saturated my hair with the product, I then used Crème of Nature Argan Oil Pudding Perfection. Let me just say that this product is AMAZING! It gave my curls so much definition, kept my hair looking & feeling super soft, and moisturized!
Here is the finished product, my defined 3 strand twist!
Now let’s get into marriage...
The first year of our marriage was hard because of the adjusting that took place during our move from Michigan to Chicago. Two people having to get used to living with each other compounded this stress. I will say that 2016 brought forth a season of maturity while preparing us both emotionally, spiritually, physically and mentally. Being able to communicate with each other about any and everything helped us stay strong during hard times. I know that the church that we end up finding around April 2016, while in Chicago, helped us to stay focus and in our word daily. I can honestly say that the Lord truly blessed us even when we could not see it. We have learned to let go of the small things and focus with our spiritual mind on what matters the most in our marriage. I am beyond grateful to say that I am married to an AMAZING man that works so hard for our family each day while keeping God first. I know that I can trust him to hear from the Lord to guide and lead our home.
I want to leave you with this being married is not always easy. Some days it’s not going to be all sunshine and smiles, but the love for each other is what makes us strong and wanting to keep going. We cannot allow the enemy to win. That is why my husband and I make an effort to press our way through whatever disagreements we have or obstacles we face. So next time you and you’re spouse are having a disagreement big or small, ask yourself this…is it really worth staying upset over or worth your peace and joy. When it’s all said and done all you have is God and EACH OTHER! There are so many divorces and not enough marriages in this cruel world.
