We all have the annoying struggle of wanting the best for our children’s hair and yet the Internet bombards us with a million different ways to do it. We at CHM love to keep hair care for children simple and here is a really simple routine for wash day. I use it for my 4 year old and I have watched her hair thrive since sticking to it.
Step 1 ‘Pre-poo’ (This step can be skipped)
The night before prep your child’s hair, I like to use coconut oil and then put my daughters hair in chunky twists and wrap with cling film for bed. (You can also do this the morning of the wash for a couple of hours) Pre-pooing the hair preps the hair to be wash and keeps it subtle as you shampoo and deep condition.
Step 2 ‘Wash’
Wash! Everyone loves to talk about co-washing, I don’t love it for my daughter’s hair and that is mainly because we deep condition and I love her hair to be penetrated. I tend to use a mild sulfate-free shampoo to wash her hair. The shampoo of choice for us has to be the ORS Curls Unleashed rosemary and coconut sulfate-free shampoo.
Step 3 ‘Deep condition’
I love deep conditioning my daughters hair, it makes it really shiny and also is really soft afterwards. I swear by Aunty Jackie’s Soft and Sassy ‘Super duper softening conditioner’ for girls. It’s amazing! I normally leave in for 30 minutes after wrapping my daughter’s hair with cling film and then rinse. If we are in a rush, I leave in for a few minutes and then rinse. We then leave her hair to air dry.
I repeat this routine weekly or fortnightly dependent on our schedule, it has made the difference. Look how defined her curls are in the pic below and this is immediately after her hair being washed.Comment and let us know how you get on. Do you have an easy routine you want to share?
